Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy

The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, all-volunteer civic organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. We welcome women and men of all ages to join us in our work to empower voters and defend democracy.
The League is proud to be nonpartisan, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government, ever. That has always been our core value. But nonpartisanship does not mean neutrality. We do take principled, evidence-based positions on policies that affect democracy and the well-being of all Americans. These positions result from gathering facts and weighing pros and cons to build consensus representing our members’ understanding and agreement of the issue. These policies guide our advocacy and inform how we hold elected officials accountable — regardless of party affiliation.
